Avalanche Course Field Days

Untitled photo

Join me in and around Revelstoke, British Columbia Canada! This offering is for those that have completed the online component of the MTN Sense Avalanche course and are now ready for field days.

Day 1: Rescue practice! Practice finding 3 buried beacons in under 7 minutes, proper probing, and efficient shoveling will start the day. Then we will learn how to package and transport a victim in a rescue sled.
Day 2: I will lead the team on a tour, teaching along the way.
Day 3: 50/50 day. I will lead the group in the AM and you will help lead the group in the PM.
Day 4: If all is going well, you and the other students will lead this day completely with feedback from me.

We will be covering instructional lessons from Rec 1 and Rec 2 courses (AST 1 and AST 2). With an enficese on students making decisions and thinking critically. Because that is the name of the game when backcountry touring.
